Please use our calculator to get the correct resistance category. Therefore, insert the machine's rotational velocity [RPM] and the item's diameter [mm] and weight [g]
The calculation is based on normed test methods. Therefore, check on necessary data in the table below:
Resistance Category | Clamping Device Diameter [mm] |
Tangential Velocity [m/s] |
Projectile Dimension [mm x mm] |
Projectile Weight [kg] |
Impact Velocity [m/s] |
Impact Energy [J] |

The european standard EN 358 specifies test procedures for the evaluation of burglar-resistant glazing.
Pane testing is performed by using an axe attached to a machine, meant to precisely knock out an access opening measuring 40 x 40 cm.The machine-carried axe accurately hits with given force. The amount of hits needed to knock out the hole works as benchmark for determination of the resitance class.
Amount of Hits | 30 bis 50 | 50 bis 70 | Über 70 |
Resitance category according to EN 356 | P6B | P7B | P8B |
Test method for bullet resistance according to DIN EN 1083:
Three vertical positioned hits will be performed on three test items (50cm x 50cm) in order to get a triangular shaped pattern (120mm á 10m edge length). According to the resitance class, shooting distance is 5m to 10m.
If no projectile (or part of it) penertrates the pane, the test is considered as passed. Within the scope of the european standard, DIN 52290/11 was revised and is now integrated within EN 1063. Additionally, new weapons such as a rifle in calibre .22 as a popular small weapon, calibre 5,56 x 45mm representing military weapons (Kalaschnikov) and calibre 12/70 used as hunting weapons, were added. As well, requirements have been aggravated (close hit distances, projectile energy and barrel spin length).
